EARLY YEARS
Our story begins with two friends who were both home roasters and shared a love for coffee. Starting with hot air popcorn poppers, they became active home roasters, learning through trial and error. The decline in coffee commodity prices and learning about the plight of the coffee farmers served as the impetus to start a business with the goal of buying Fair Trade coffee. Thus, La Cosecha (LC) Coffee Roasters began in 2006. They first sold coffee to friends and family while cultivating relationships who would eventually become their first wholesale customers.
OUR NAME
La Cosecha (koh-seh-chah) which is Spanish for “the harvest.” This name was primarily inspired from Galatians 6:9, which says “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” We try our best to live this out every day in everything that we do. We’re not perfect people and will fail you at times, yet each day we strive to love others, help them feel welcome into our establishment, and serve all people with respect and dignity while leaving them with an incredible coffee experience.
OUR PARTNERSHIPS
In 2012, after years of a wholesale roasting operation, we grew into our first coffee bar that was located inside a Great Harvest Bread Co in Olivette, MO.
In 2013, as our operations expanded as we transitioned from Olivette to historic downtown Maplewood, MO, where we currently have our Coffee Bar & Roastery shared with the same Great Harvest Bread Co.
“BREWSTER” THE COFFEE TRUCK
In 2020, we decided to purchase a Freightliner cupcake truck and convert it into a Coffee Truck, since no other local roaster had one at the time. In the spring of 2021, we launched Brewster into the greater St. Louis metro area with the desire to connect with others through the bonds of coffee. We served over 12,000 cups of coffee in the first year and look forward to serving more people outdoors!
NEW SEASON, SAME PASSION
The time has come for us to grow into a new season that reflects La Cosecha, the harvest. The coffee flower is a symbol of the goodness to come. It must bloom for the coffee plant to produce each year. This delicate process is essential for our daily cup. Join us in celebrating the harvest!
